Home Care After Surgery – A Personal Experience

Just a few days ago my sister had her kidney removed and I’ve taken a few days to help her out at home.  Of course I’m not familiar at all with kidney recovery as I am with c-section recovery but there are plenty of similarities when it comes to caring for someone at home after surgery.

For one thing, there’s a lot of pain so getting the right medications, doses and schedules is important.

My sister didn’t tolerate the initial medications she was sent home with so we had to revert to other meds that worked better.  This made the first few days pretty tough.   Read more »

Belly Wraps – Help or Hype?

I wish I had known about belly wraps when I had my c-section.  I was surprised to hear how long they’ve been around.  I guess I was too wrapped up,  no pun intended ;-)   in my own little world to know about them, but I have to say I think a belly wrap would have been just the thing I needed for easing my incision pain – I could have really used some of that!  And from what I’ve seen and heard, some women swear by them.
