C-section Incision is Red and Irritated

“My incision scar is red and irritated after removing my steri-strips, they got a little pulled so they are very sore. Is there anything I can do to relieve the redness and soreness?”
Here’s what you need to do..
Try using Neosporin or Bacitracin on the incision. You can buy this at any drugstore and it’s not very expensive. First wash your hands thoroughly, then apply a good amount of Neosporin directly on with your fingertips.
Don’t use alcohol or peroxide as these products will dry out the incision and can be more irritating. You can cover the incision with a sterile pad if you like but that is not necessary.
If your incision gets very sore, red and puffy, has white discharge or you are running a fever, this is a sign of infection and you want to get to your doctor immediately. Keeping Bacitracin or Neosporin on the site is helpful but don’t put off seeing your doctor for treatment. You don’t want to let an infection go untreated because there can be some painful and ugly consequences if an infection is left to get worse.
