Belly Wraps – Help or Hype?
I wish I had known about belly wraps when I had my c-section. I was surprised to hear how long they’ve been around. I guess I was too wrapped up, no pun intended
in my own little world to know about them, but I have to say I think a belly wrap would have been just the thing I needed for easing my incision pain – I could have really used some of that! And from what I’ve seen and heard, some women swear by them.
Originally designed to help support your back for post pregnancy and c-section moms, a belly wrap provides extensive abdominal support. It helps post partum moms lose that pregnancy look quicker and it makes movement after having a c-section much easier.
It works by providing abdominal compression that can actually help the uterus revert to its original size quicker. So for moms that want to get rid of that still-pregnant-looking belly after delivering, a belly wrap can be a quick solution.
But it’s interesting to note that some women believe the belly wrap actually helps them get their shape back. This may be bordering on belly wrap hype but I have to say, there are women who swear that by wearing a belly wrap they can fit into their pre-pregnancy clothes again a lot sooner.
While I think that a belly wrap can help you look thinner I don’t think it’s a substitute for following a healthy diet and following c-section exercise that is safe. Those things are alway important and are what actually work the best. But I’ll also add that If a belly wrap helps you look and feel better it’s definitely worth it, but balance that with a healthy lifestyle too.
If wearing a belly wrap is what you need to help you through those few months of feeling fat and helps you get the support you need for easier movement and less pain then there’s no hype in that.
