Cesarean Scar Treatment – What works Best?
When I had my c-sections, there weren’t cesarean scar treatments available like there are today.
I had to wait for my c-section scar to disappear on its own, which actually took years.
Today women are much luckier.
There are tons of advertised scar treatments on the shelves, but today the most effective yet painless cesarean scar treatment is silicon.
Silicone has been most effective for reducing hypertrophic scars, in fact silicone has become a well known effective treatment for all types of scars including the keltoid scars that come from burns.
But not all silicone scar treatments work well as a Cesarean scar treatment
For example, silicone gels and ointments work differently than the silicone sheets or strips. Even though these are all silicone products, the results are different. Here’s why…
Silicone testing has shown that Silicon works best when it is applied directly to the scar, but that’s not really enough.
Applying silicone with slight pressure as with a strip or sheet along with the right amounts of moisture and oxygen proves to be the most effective silicone treatment, in fact too much moisture or not enough oxygen can render the product less effective and delay the healing process.
Using the right formulated silicone scar sheets is an effective Cesarean scar treatment because it puts direct pressure on the scar and regulates the proper amounts of oxygen and moisture creating a less noticeable scar in just a few months, instead of a few years. Silicon ointments or gels don’t accomplish all of these things together.
Today you can hardly see my scar at all, but I also had my last c-section nearly 20 years ago.
I didn’t have the benefit of silicone products at my fingertips. It took about 6 years for my scar to totally diminish, but today you don’t have to wait anywhere near that long using the mot effective Cesarean Scar treatments
