Can C-Section Adhesions Prevent Pregnancy?

c-section adhesionsHave you ever wondered if  C-Section adhesions can prevent pregnancy?

If you have C-Section adhesions and are having trouble getting pregnant, it’s possible that adhesions could be preventing you from getting pregnant again.

C-Section adhesions, or even adhesions from other abdominal surgeries, can create complications that block ovaries, the uterus or fallopian tubes making it difficult to get pregnant; and in some cases preventing pregnancy altogether.

But even though this is a possibility, it’s also rare.

After I had my first c-section it took me several years to get pregnant again.  After some concern I finally consulted with my doctor and he recommended that I try an ovulation schedule.   If that didn’t’ work he recommended some testing to take a closer look at what the problem might be.

Fortunately for me, after several months of calculating and reacting to my ovulation times,  I finally did get pregnant, but overall it took about 2 years.

The biggest problem with c-section adhesions and scar tissue is that it’s hard to know if they are the root of the problem because adhesions can’t be seen on X-rays or ultrasound.

If a doctor does determine that adhesions are the problem, they can be removed with laparoscopic surgery, but that still doesn’t guarantee that you will be able to get pregnant.

For me I don’t honestly know if adhesions were part of my problem, but unless I knew for sure that adhesions were preventing my pregnancy I didn’t want to simply give up,  and you shouldn’t either.

Don’t Give Up – Keep On Trying

When I had trouble conceiving after my first C-Section, I set up an ovulation schedule by creating a monthly calendar.  I calculated when I was ovulating each month.  It took a few months but it did work for me.

If calculating ovulation doesn’t work, many women have sought help from the Pregnancy Miracle.  This is a holistic approach demonstrated in a guide written by Lisa Olson, someone who battled with infertility herself.

Since I’m not personally familiar with the guide as it wasn’t available when I was trying to conceive, I wrote to Lisa asking her if this might be something that could help women that suspect c-section adhesions are the preventing them from getting pregnant.

Here’s what Lisa said:

“While we had only a few women who managed to conceive using the Pregnancy Miracle program even though they had a blocked/damaged tube, I can’t guarantee the program will work in the cases that have c-section adhesions.”

This may be discouraging news if you suspect adhesions are standing in the way of getting pregnant, but I don’t want you to get discouraged yet, even if you have adhesions it doesn’t mean they are preventing you from getting pregnant.  It depends on whether the adhesions are interfering with conception.

So how do you know if adhesions are interfering with trying to conceive?

You really don’t know.  Even if your doctor says he has seen adhesions or suspects adhesions, it’s hard to know if they are directly keeping you from getting pregnant.

Before making any rash assumptions, I would want to know that I’m doing everything I can to make conception possible.

In Summary…

If  you suspect C-section Adhesions might be preventing your pregnancy, don’t be discouraged.

Try implementing an ovulation schedule,  if you still can’t get pregnant, the holistic approach that Lisa Olson demonstrates in the Pregnancy Miracle has literally been a miracle for many women.

If you’re still having trouble getting pregnant it may be time to consult a specialist, but I want you to first give yourself every opportunity to conceive without drugs, surgery or invasive measures.

Unless you are absolutely sure C-Section adhesions are preventing pregnancy or you have some other obvious infertility problem, your chances of conceiving are still good if you can try these approaches.

My Best for your pregnancy Success!
